Characterization of poxtA, a novel phenicol-oxazolidinone-tetracycline resistance gene from an MRSA of clinical origin. To characterize a novel phenicol-oxazolidinone-tetracycline resistance gene, named poxtA, identified in a previously described MRSA strain that was highly resistant to linezolid and also carried the cfr gene.The poxtA gene was identified by bioinformatic analysis of the whole genome sequence of Staphylococcus aureus AOUC-0915. Novel bioactive tetracycline-containing electrospun polymer fibers as a potential antibacterial dental implant coating The purpose of this investigation was to determine the ability of tetracycline-containing fibers to inhibit biofilm formation of peri-implantitis-associated pathogens [i.e., Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Prevotella intermedia (Pi), and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa)]. Tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) was added to a poly(DL-lactide (...) . Complete inhibition of biofilm formation on the fibers was observed in groups containing TCH at 10 and 25 wt%. Fibers containing TCH at 5 wt% demonstrated complete inhibition of Aa biofilm. Rescue Therapy for Helicobacter pylori Eradication: A Randomized Non-Inferiority Trial of Amoxicillin or Tetracycline in Bismuth Quadruple Therapy To compare the efficacy and safety of bismuth-containing quadruple therapy with tetracycline or amoxicillin for rescue treatment of Helicobacter pylori.The study was a non-inferiority trial of H. pylori eradication with at least two previous treatment failures. Sorption of tetracycline on biochar derived from rice straw under different temperatures. Biochars produced from the pyrolysis of waste biomass under limited oxygen conditions could serve as adsorbents in environmental remediation processes. Biochar samples derived from rice straw that were pyrolyzed at 300 (R300), 500 (R500) and 700°C (R700) were used as adsorbents to remove tetracycline from an aqueous solution. Both the Langmuir and Freundlich models fitted the adsorption data well (R2 (...) > 0.919). The adsorption capacity increased with pyrolysis temperature. The R500 and R700 samples exhibited relative high removal efficiencies across a range of initial tetracycline concentrations (0.5mg/L-32mg/L) with the maximum (92.8%-96.7%) found for adsorption on R700 at 35°C. The relatively high surface area of the R700 sample and π-π electron-donor acceptor contributed to the high adsorption capacities.
