1. Effect of Fatigue Three-Needle acupuncture therapy in a patient with cancer-related fatigue: A case report. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Effect of Fatigue Three-Needle acupuncture therapy in a patient with cancer-related fatigue: A case report. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a persistent, subjective sense of tiredness or exhaustion experienced by cancer patients. Acupuncture is a safe and feasible optional method for adjunctive treatment for CRF. However, the therapeutic effect of the Fatigue Three-Needle acupuncture therapy in patients with CRF has not been well-investigated.A 53-year-old woman had been experiencing fatigue (...) from this case provides further evidence for the therapeutic benefits of the Fatigue Three-Needle therapy for patients with CRF, suggesting that acupuncture treatment with the Fatigue Three-Needle is an effective option for patients with CRF.

2. Preliminary Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Needle-Embedding Therapy with Acupuncture for Atopic Dermatitis Patients. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Preliminary Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Needle-Embedding Therapy with Acupuncture for Atopic Dermatitis Patients. Among Traditional Korean Medicine approaches, needle-embedding therapy is used in various fields and consistently studied; however, there have been no clinical studies of the treatment of adult atopic dermatitis (AD) with needle-embedding therapy. Thus, there is a need to investigate the effects of needle-embedding therapy for treatment of AD. This study was performed (...) to identify possible effects of needle-embedding therapy at Quchi acupoint (LI11) on AD and to compare these effects with those of acupuncture therapy.A total of 14 participants were enrolled in this study. Participants received acupuncture or needle-embedding treatments for 4 weeks and then were followed for an additional 2 weeks because of safety assessment. The participants were divided into 2 groups: the acupuncture group, receiving treatment at Quchi acupoint (LI11) 3 times per week, and the needle

14. A pilot study in intraparenchymal therapy delivery in the prostate: a comparison of delivery with a porous needle vs standard needle. Full Text available with Trip Pro

A pilot study in intraparenchymal therapy delivery in the prostate: a comparison of delivery with a porous needle vs standard needle. New biologic therapies directly injected into the prostate are in clinical trials for prostatic diseases. There is a need to understand distribution of injected therapies as a function of prostatic anatomy, physiology, and device design.A needle with a porous length of customizable-length was tested and its performance compared with a standard needle. Injections (...) heterogenic and limits distribution of needle injection. There is greater distribution in the ex-vivo prostate using a porous needle. The complexity of intra prostatic flow pathways suggests preoperative imaging and pre-treatment planning will enhance therapy.

Acupuncture vs Noninsertive Sham Acupuncture in Aging Patients with Degenerative Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial Acupuncture is commonly used to treat degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis in Asian countries. However, rigorous data regarding the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for aging patients are currently lacking.Eighty patients older than 50 years were assigned randomly to the acupuncture group or the noninsertive sham acupuncture for 24 treatments over an 8-week (...) period. Measurements were obtained at baseline and 4 and 8 weeks of treatment; and 3 and 6 months after completion of treatment. The primary outcome was a change in the 24-point Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire scores at the end of treatment. The secondary outcomes included disability, pain intensity, symptoms, and dysfunction. At the end of treatment, mean changes in the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire were -4.1 (95% CI, -4.9 to -3.3) in the acupuncture group and -1.5 (95% CI, -2.3

20. Acupuncture for polycystic ovarian syndrome. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Acupuncture for polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is characterised by the clinical signs of oligo-amenorrhoea, infertility and hirsutism. Conventional treatment of PCOS includes a range of oral pharmacological agents, lifestyle changes and surgical modalities. Beta-endorphin is present in the follicular fluid of both normal and polycystic ovaries. It was demonstrated that the beta-endorphin levels in ovarian follicular fluid of otherwise healthy women who were (...) undergoing ovulation were much higher than the levels measured in plasma. Given that acupuncture impacts on beta-endorphin production, which may affect gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion, it is postulated that acupuncture may have a role in ovulation induction via increased beta-endorphin production effecting GnRH secretion. This is an update of our previous review published in 2016.To assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture treatment for oligo/anovulatory women with polycystic
