101. Syringomyelia secondary to cervical spondylosis: Case report and review of literature Full Text available with Trip Pro

Syringomyelia secondary to cervical spondylosis: Case report and review of literature Syringomyelia secondary to cervical spondylosis is a rare entity to encounter in clinical practice. We discuss the case of a 53-year-old lady who presented with a syringomyelic syndrome and was found to have cervical spondylosis on imaging. Cine-MRI revealed an obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow in the cervical spinal subarachnoid space. Decompression of the same led to clinical and radiological (...) improvement. There is a potential causal association between cervical spondylosis and syringomyelia. MRI CSF flow studies may help in deciding the course of treatment in such cases. A subset of patients with cervical spondylosis and concurrent spinal cord signal intensity changes may show reversal of the same following intervention.

102. Application of a new combined model including radiological indicators to predict difficult airway in patients undergoing surgery for cervical spondylosis. (Abstract)

Application of a new combined model including radiological indicators to predict difficult airway in patients undergoing surgery for cervical spondylosis. Airway management is crucial in clinical anesthesia. Many complications associated with airway management result from unexpected difficult airway, but predicting a difficult airway is a major challenge. We investigated the efficacy of a new combined model including radiological indicators to predict difficult airway in patients undergoing (...) surgery for cervical spondylosis, a population with a high incidence of difficult airway. We randomly enrolled 303 patients scheduled for elective surgery for cervical spondylosis at Peking University Third Hospital between August 2012 and March 2013. Preoperatively, patients were evaluated for difficult airway according to a clinical index and parameters on lateral cervical radiographs and magnetic resonance images. Difficult airway was defined as Cormack-Lehane grades III-IV. Logistic regression

106. The correlation between ossification of the nuchal ligament and pathological changes of the cervical spine in patients with cervical spondylosis. (Abstract)

The correlation between ossification of the nuchal ligament and pathological changes of the cervical spine in patients with cervical spondylosis. A retrospective clinical data analysis. This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between ossification of the nuchal ligament (ONL) and pathological changes of the cervical spine in patients with cervical spondylosis.ONL can usually be found in cervical spondylosis. Thus, it is important to find the correlation between ONL (...) and pathological changes of the cervical spine in patients with cervical spondylosis. The medical records of 100 patients with cervical spondylosis with the local type of ONL (ONL group) and 50 patients with cervical spondylosis only (control group) were reviewed. Data analysis included patients' sex, age, location of ONL, maximum cord compression level, osteophyte height ratio, and grade of cervical intervertebral disc degeneration. [The short-term and long-term effects on neck pain caused by cervical spondylosis treated with combination of acupuncture and moxibustion with seed-sized moxa cone]. To evaluate the short-term and long-term effects on treatment of neck pain caused by cervical spondylosis with the combination of acupuncture and moxibustion with seed-size moxa cone. One hundred and forty-five patients of neck pain were randomly divided into an acupuncture-moxibustion group (49 cases), an acupuncture group (48 (...) of NPQ and MPQ the acupuncture-moxibustion group were lower than that of the other two groups. And the difference had obvious significance (P<0. 05). High efficiency of pain relieving for cervical spondylosis could be found in all the 3 groups, which showed that short-term and long-term effects were good for all the 3 groups. And the highest curative effect could be found in acupuncture-moxibustion group.Combination of acupuncture and moxibustion with seed-size moxa cone has reached a superior effect

108. A 12-Words-for-Life-Nurturing Exercise Program as an Alternative Therapy for Cervical Spondylosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Full Text available with Trip Pro

A 12-Words-for-Life-Nurturing Exercise Program as an Alternative Therapy for Cervical Spondylosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial. In this paper, we carried out a randomized controlled clinical trial to explore the effect of 12-words-for-life-nurturing exercise on patients presenting with cervical spondylosis. After exercise intervention, the mean VAS and NDI scores of the patients decreased significantly and the scores of BP, VT, and MH in SF-36 Health Questionnaire were significantly higher (...) . Exercise therapy showed significant effect on relieving pain and improving vitality and mental health. The 12-words-for-life-nurturing exercise may be a potential effective therapy for patients with cervical spondylosis.

110. Risk factors in cervical spondylosis Full Text available with Trip Pro

Risk factors in cervical spondylosis Cervical spondylosis is essentially a degenerative disorder common after fourth decade. It has been seen that radiological evidence of cervical spondylosis do not necessarily co-relate with clinical findings. This discrepancy has been attributed to the morphometric dimensions of the vertebrae, age, sex, race, occupation, weight and height of the patients. The objective of this study is to co-relate the variables like age, sex, race, occupation, vertebral body (...) diameter, canal diameter, canal body ratio of cervical spine vertebrae with cervical spondylosis cases with normal population. In this hospital based, case control, consent based, cross-sectional, clinico-radiological study 200 individuals (controls-100, cases-100) who were subjected to lateral projection radiographs of cervical spine. Their age, sex, race, occupation, height, weight and mid-sagittal canal diameter (CD), sagittal vertebral body diameter (VBD) and the canal-body ratio (CBR
