1003. Histological assessment of the early enthesitis lesion in spondyloarthropathy (PubMed)

Histological assessment of the early enthesitis lesion in spondyloarthropathy To describe the histological changes in acute enthesopathy in early spondyloarthropathies (SpA).Clinically evident acute enthesopathy was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasonography in four cases of plantar fasciitis and one case of patellar tendon enthesitis. Ultrasound guided biopsy of insertional points was carried out with a Jamshedi needle. Control tissue was obtained from two subjects undergoing

1006. HLA B27 related 'unclassifiable' seronegative spondyloarthropathies. (PubMed)

HLA B27 related 'unclassifiable' seronegative spondyloarthropathies. Twenty-five patients (22 males and 3 females) are described who had 'unclassifiable' seronegative peripheral arthritis affecting mainly the large joints of the lower limbs with other typical features of spondyloarthropathies such as heel pain, low back pain, and mucosal ulcers. But their disorders could not be diagnosed as any specific spondyloarthropathy such as ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter's disease, etc. The mean age

1007. Determination of oxygen radical production in spondyloarthropathies by whole blood chemiluminescence. (PubMed)

Determination of oxygen radical production in spondyloarthropathies by whole blood chemiluminescence. Oxygen derived free radicals are considered to play an important part in the development of inflammation. A whole blood chemiluminescence assay was used to study N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine induced oxygen radical production in subjects with ankylosing spondylitis or previous yersinia arthritis. In luminol enhanced chemiluminescence, the subjects with previous yersinia arthritis

1008. Trauma and seronegative spondyloarthropathy: rapid joint destruction in peripheral arthritis triggered by physical injury. (PubMed)

Trauma and seronegative spondyloarthropathy: rapid joint destruction in peripheral arthritis triggered by physical injury. Two B27 positive patients developed peripheral arthritis immediately after a significant musculoskeletal injury. Unlike previously reported peripheral arthritis precipitated by trauma in B27 positive subjects the arthritis was rapidly destructive.

1009. Trauma and seronegative spondyloarthropathy: report of two more cases of peripheral arthritis precipitated by physical injury. (PubMed)

Trauma and seronegative spondyloarthropathy: report of two more cases of peripheral arthritis precipitated by physical injury. Two more cases of B27 associated peripheral arthritis triggered by physical injury are reported. One patient developed arthritis after a minor insult and in the other Reiter's syndrome occurred after the injury. Possibly, trauma causes release of self antigens from the injured joints.
