% decrease), resolution of gouty attacks, maintenance of low serum urate (sUA) level, absence of infusion reactions, and good toleration of the treatment by the patient. Two transient increases in sUA (maximal sUA 1.0 and 6.2mg/dL, respectively), were associated with azathioprine non-compliance and resolved with azathioprine reinstitution. Literature review confirmed successful use of DMARDs for prevention of anti-drug antibodies to anti-TNF-α therapies in RA, spondyloarthropathies, and inflammatory

222. Inflammatory arthritis in HIV positive patients: A practical guide. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Inflammatory arthritis in HIV positive patients: A practical guide. Musculoskeletal manifestations of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) have been described since the outset of the global HIV epidemic. Articular syndromes that have been described in association with HIV include HIV-associated arthropathy, seronegative spondyloarthropathies (SPA) (reactive arthritis, psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and undifferentiated SPA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and painful articular syndrome. We carried out (...) a computer-assisted search of PubMed for the medical literature from January 1981 to January 2015 using the keywords HIV, acquired immune-deficiency syndrome, rheumatic manifestations, arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, anti-TNF and disease modifying antirheumatic drugs. Only English language literature was included and only studies involving adult human subjects were assessed. There are challenges in the management of inflammatory arthritis in patients who are HIV-positive, including difficulties

This article provides an overview of technical aspects of whole-body MR imaging and practical recommendations for the interpretation of whole-body MR imaging studies. It reviews the currently established and potential indications

224. Genetic association of ankylosing spondylitis with TBX21 influences T-bet and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression in humans and SKG mice as a model of spondyloarthritis. (Abstract)

in AS pathogenesis is unclear. We assessed the importance of T-bet in disease development and progression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 172 AS cases and 83 healthy controls carrying either risk or protective alleles of the peak AS-associated TBX21 single nucleotide polymorphism. Kinetics and localisation of T-bet expression in the SKG mouse model of spondyloarthropathy was examined, along with the impact of Tbx21 knockout on arthritis development in SKG mice.Patients with AS had higher T-bet (...) IFNγ-producing and IL-17-producing CD8+ T cells, in Tbx21-/- compared with wild-type SKG mice.AS-associated variants in TBX21 influence T-bet expression. T-bet+ innate and adaptive immune cells have altered IL-17 and IFNγ, and early activation marker CD69 expression than T-bet cells. This indicates that T-bet is a major component of inflammatory pathways of spondyloarthropathy in humans and mice.Published by the BMJ Publishing Group Limited. 225. Non-conventional forms of HLA-B27 are expressed in spondyloarthritis joints and gut tissue. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Non-conventional forms of HLA-B27 are expressed in spondyloarthritis joints and gut tissue. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B27 (B27) is the strongest genetic factor associated with development of Ankylosing Spondylitis and other spondyloarthropathies (SpA), yet the role it plays in disease pathogenesis remains unclear. We investigated the expression of potentially pathogenic non-conventional heavy chain forms (NC) of B27 in synovial and intestinal tissues obtained from SpA patients. We also

ND and vasculitis occurred at the time of MDS diagnosis, whereas other AIMs occurred years after MDS diagnosis. Deletion of 5q was associated with ND (P = 0.001), whereas trisomy 8 was associated with Behcet disease (P = 0.015). Strikingly, ND was associated with a 1.8-fold increase

Cardiac Involvement in Ankylosing Spondylitis Ankylosing spondylitis is one of the subgroup of diseases called "seronegative spondyloarthropathy". Frequently, it affects the vertebral colon and sacroiliac joint primarily and affects the peripheral joints less often. This chronic, inflammatory and rheumatic disease can also affect the extraarticular regions of the body. The extraarticular affections can be ophthalmologic, cardiac, pulmonary or neurologic. The cardiac affection can be 2-10

233. Efficacy of an acquainted drug in the treatment of inflammatory low back pain: sulfasalazine under investigation Full Text available with Trip Pro

spondyloarthropathy (USpA) (61.0%) and ankylosing spondylitis (24.6%). During the follow-up period, 3.4% of the participants had an appropriate response to only nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, 57.6% to sulfasalazine, 26.3% to addition of methotrexate to the previous regimen, and 12.7% to biological agents. Multiple logistic regression results showed that the underlying disease had a significant effect on the sulfasalazine response. The odds for response to treatment was 3.53 times higher in USpA patients (...) compared to other patients (odds ratio =3.53, 95% confidence interval: 1.63-7.68, P=0.001). In 69.4% of the participants, the highest response to sulfasalazine was found, which was related to the underlying USpA. This study found that an adequate response to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in patients with ILBP was potentially increased by adding sulfasalazine. Thus, the observed response rate was dependent on the nature of underlying spondyloarthropathy.

Alteration of Fecal Microbiota Profiles in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Associations with HLA-B27 Allele and Disease Status Alteration of gut microbiota is involved in several chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, and gut microbial "pro-arthritogenic" profiles have been hypothesized. Intestinal inflammation may be involved in spondyloarthropathies and in a subset of patients affected by Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), the most common chronic
