Correlation between sodium, potassium, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and glucose values as measured by a laboratory autoanalyzer and a blood gas analyzer. Blood gas analyzers can be alternatives to laboratory autoanalyzers for obtaining test results in just a few minutes. We aimed to find out whether the results from blood gas analyzers are reliable when compared to results of core laboratory autoanalyzers.This retrospective, single-centered study examined the electronic records of patients admitted (...) of 31,060 patients. The correlation coefficients for sodium, potassium, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and glucose levels measured by a blood gas analyzer and a laboratory autoanalyzer were 0.725, 0.593, 0.982, 0.958, and 0.984, respectively; however, there were no good, acceptable agreement limits for any of the parameters. Randomized, Double-Blind, Crossover Clinical Trial of the Effect of Calcium Alginate in Noodles on Postprandial Blood Glucose Level. We conducted a prospective, randomized, double-blind, 3-group, 3-phase crossover study to evaluate the effect of calcium alginate (Ca-Alg) on the postprandial increase of blood glucose in 15 healthy adult subjects who were given udon noodles containing or not containing Ca-Alg (5 or 8%). The value of ΔCmax (difference between the maximum (Cmax) and pre-feeding (C0 (...) ) blood glucose levels) was significantly reduced in both Ca-Alg groups, and the area under the blood glucose level-time curve over 120 min (ΔAUC, with C0 as the baseline) was also significantly reduced. Investigating the relationship between lentil carbohydrate fractions and in vivo postprandial blood glucose response by use of the natural variation in starch fractions among 20 lentil varieties. Consumption of pulses is associated with many health benefits by mechanisms that are not fully understood. This study sought to identify the starch component(s) in cooked lentils responsible for lowering postprandial glycemic response (PPGR). Rapidly digestible (RDS), slowly digestible (SDS (...) . Multiple linear regression of in vitro data resulted in an equation [SHAUCest = 30.9RDS - 63.6RS + 9680] that accounted for 70% of the variance in SHAUC, with SDS excluded due to collinearity. Association between Blood Glucose Levels the Day after Targeted Temperature Initiation and Outcome in Traumatic Brain Injury: A Post-Hoc Analysis of the B-HYPO Study. We investigated associations between blood glucose levels and clinical outcomes in participants of the multi-center randomized controlled Brain-Hypothermia (B-HYPO) study. Patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI, Glasgow Coma Scale 4-8) were assigned to therapeutic hypothermia (TH, 32-34°C, n = 98) or fever control (35.5 (...) -37.0°C, n = 50) groups. TH patients were cooled as soon as possible for ≥72 h and rewarmed at a rate of <1°C/d. We recorded blood glucose (BG) levels on days 0, 1, and 3 after treatment initiation, and day 1 after rewarming. The Glasgow Outcome Scale was assessed at 6 months.
