1. Erythema Ab Igne and Its Relation to Spinal Pathology (PubMed)

Erythema Ab Igne and Its Relation to Spinal Pathology Erythema ab igne is a skin condition usually caused by abnormal exposure to heat in a variety of forms. While common in the past, its incidence has declined significantly to become a rare occurrence today. Today, we still see an odd case once in a while, although they have become a rarity. We describe a case of a young man who presented with erythema ab igne with a unique cause.

Erythema Ab Igne in an Adolescent With Chronic Pain: An Alarming Cutaneous Eruption From Heat Exposure. Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a cutaneous finding caused by prolonged heat exposure and is characterized by a reticular, brownish-pigmented, often telangiectatic dermatosis. The eruption is reminiscent of livedo reticularis, which is typically seen in the setting of a number of rheumatologic conditions, most prominently vasculitis. Identification of key features distinguishing EAI from livedo

3. Erythema Ab Igne from Heating Pad Use: A Report of Three Clinical Cases and a Differential Diagnosis (PubMed)

Erythema Ab Igne from Heating Pad Use: A Report of Three Clinical Cases and a Differential Diagnosis Erythema ab igne is an asymptomatic cutaneous disorder characterized by erythematous reticulated hyperpigmentation resulting from chronic exposure to infrared radiation in the form of heat. We report three cases of erythema ab igne from chronic heating pad use over a duration of six months to three years. The lesions were asymptomatic in all three patients and were incidental skin findings (...) in two patients, unrelated to their chief complaints. This illustrates the importance of recognizing the morphology and distribution of erythema ab igne. Additionally, knowledge of similarly presenting cutaneous diseases is important to distinguish erythema ab igne from other more worrisome entities that would require further evaluation. Our patients were informed of the benign nature of this condition and were told that cessation of heating pad use would likely result in the resolution

4. Erythema ab igne: new technology rebounding upon its users? (PubMed)

Erythema ab igne: new technology rebounding upon its users? Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a persistent, chronic skin condition resulting from prolonged exposure to infrared radiation, experienced as heat. Once associated with traditional warming sources like wood burning stoves or open fires, modern, infrared exposure originates also from newer sources like laptops and heating pads and may be creating a rebound of EAI. The epidemiology may be different too, with younger patients than previously

6. Erythema Ab Igne due to Heating Pad Use: A Case Report and Review of Clinical Presentation, Prevention, and Complications (PubMed)

Erythema Ab Igne due to Heating Pad Use: A Case Report and Review of Clinical Presentation, Prevention, and Complications Erythema ab igne is an asymptomatic cutaneous condition caused by exposure to heat. Cases of erythema ab igne may prove to be diagnostically challenging due to lack of familiarity with the condition. While this dermatosis carries a favorable prognosis, nonmelanoma skin cancers have been reported to arise within lesions of erythema ab igne. Erythema ab igne is preventable

Erythema Ab Igne Caused By Laptop Computer Erythema ab igne (EAI) represents the stereotype of a modern technology induced disease. Originally produced by repeated exposure of the skin to a heat source, more often because of habits related to the job or personal activities, this condition now tends to occur more frequently, being associated with a variety of modern instruments. The aim of our report is to discuss this strange medical condition with a focus on clinical features, possible

8. Erythema Ab Igne Successfully Treated With Mesoglycan and Bioflavonoids: A Case-Report (PubMed)

Erythema Ab Igne Successfully Treated With Mesoglycan and Bioflavonoids: A Case-Report Erythema ab igne is a localised, cutaneous condition consisting of reticulate hyperpigmentation, epidermal atrophy, and telangiectasias. It is caused by repetitive and prolonged exposure to moderate heat that is insufficient for producing burns. Currently, erythema ab igne is most commonly observed following repeated use of hot water bottles, infrared lamps and heating pads. If not properly treated, erythema (...) ab igne can become chronic and even malignant. We report a case of erythema ab igne, successfully treated with systemic mesoglycan-based therapy, and local therapy with bioflavonoids.

Cutaneous reactive angiomatosis associated with erythema ab igne. We present the case of a 49-year-old man with an 18-month history of an intermittently pruritic red-brown reticulate eruption of the medial legs, with occasional blistering. There were areas of scale, crust and superficial erosions. The patient worked long overnight shifts standing in front of hot machinery wearing shorts, and spent time sitting in front of a heater at home. A clinical diagnosis of erythema ab igne (EAI) was made
