1. Intense pulsed light treatment for Becker's nevus. (Abstract)

Intense pulsed light treatment for Becker's nevus. Background: Becker's Nevus (BN) is a benign hamartoma with an esthetically troublesome condition secondary to hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis. Many treatment modalities have been utilized with variable outcomes. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intense pulsed light (IPL) in the treatment of BN. Patients and methods: IPL was used at filter of 590 nm, fluence of 18-22 J/cm2, double-pulse mode (pulse width of 3-10 ms, pulse

2. Becker's Nevus with Recurrent Eczema Limited to the Nevus Lesion Full Text available with Trip Pro

Becker's Nevus with Recurrent Eczema Limited to the Nevus Lesion Several dermatoses have been reported in association with Becker's nevus. Eczematous dermatitis associated with Becker's nevus is extremely rare, described in only two previous case reports. We report a case of 21-year-old male with recurrent eczema lesions which were always localized within the underlying Becker's nevus lesion. This case may be explained as a Wolf's isotopic response-like phenomenon.

3. Overexpression of Androgen, Oestrogen and Progesterone Receptors in Skin Lesions of Becker's Naevus. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Overexpression of Androgen, Oestrogen and Progesterone Receptors in Skin Lesions of Becker's Naevus. Becker's naevus is androgen-dependent. The aim of this study was to investigate whether oestrogen and progesterone receptors are involved in this disorder. Immunohistochemistry showed that epidermal expression of androgen receptors, oestrogen receptors (α, β) and progesterone receptors was higher in skin lesions of Becker's naevus than in perilesional and control skin. Androgen receptor (...) suggest that simultaneous overexpression of androgen, oestrogen and progesterone receptors might be implicated in the pathogenesis of Becker's naevus.

4. Clinicopathologic characteristics of early-onset Becker's nevus in Korean children and adolescents. (Abstract)

Clinicopathologic characteristics of early-onset Becker's nevus in Korean children and adolescents. Becker's nevus (BN) presents as a hairy patch or plaque with or without proliferation of the dermal smooth muscles. BN has been described as acquired as found in a similar entity, congenital smooth muscle hamartoma (CSMH). This study was aimed at evaluating the clinicopathological aspects of BN in Korean cases in differential diagnosis with CSMH.We performed a retrospective study of 103 patients

6. Becker's Nevus and Lethal Beta-Actin Mutations. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Becker's Nevus and Lethal Beta-Actin Mutations. The etiology of Becker's nevus and Becker's nevus syndrome has been until now unknown. Cai et al. provide evidence that these disorders are caused by lethal mutations in ACTB, a gene coding for beta-actin. They hypothesize that these mutations may interfere with Hedgehog pathway signaling. Their findings have important implications for clinical genetics, and they open new aspects in hair research.Copyright © 2017 The Author. Published by Elsevier

8. Becker Nevus Syndrome of the Lower Body: One Case and Review of the Literature. Full Text available with Trip Pro

Becker Nevus Syndrome of the Lower Body: One Case and Review of the Literature. Becker naevus syndrome is a rare epidermal naevus syndrome defined by the co-occurrence of a Becker naevus with various cutaneous, muscular and skeletal anomalies. In the majority of cases, abnormalities exclusively consist of ipsilateral hypoplasia of the breast, areola and/or nipple in addition to the naevus. Here, we report on a 42-year-old woman with an extensive Becker naevus reaching from the left buttock (...) to the left calf verified on histological examination. In addition, there was marked hypoplasia of the fatty tissue of the left thigh confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging in contrast to hyperplasia of the fatty tissue of the left gluteal area. Underlying muscles and bones were not affected. There was no difference in leg lengths. In addition, we review and discuss the features of Becker naevus syndrome with emphasis on 10 reported cases with involvement of the lower body.

Becker's Nevus Syndrome in a Pediatric Female Patient Becker's nevus syndrome is part of the epidermal nevus syndromes and has been described with a phenotype that includes Becker's nevus, ipsilateral breast hypoplasia, and variable skeletal malformations. It is more frequent in males than in females (5 : 1) but is more relevant in females. The diagnosis is clinically based and the skin lesion must be present and no other numbered criteria have been established, but with more criteria being

Sebaceus and Becker's Nevus: Overview of Their Presentation, Pathogenesis, Associations, and Treatment. Nevus sebaceus (NS) and Becker's nevus (BN) are two variants of epidermal nevi. NS clinically presents as a yellowish-orange, hairless plaque on the scalp, face, or neck, while BN presents as a tan-to-brown hyperpigmented, sometimes hypertrichotic, plaque typically on the chest and shoulder. Histologically, NS displays mature or nearly mature sebaceus glands as well as acanthosis

Becker's nevus with neurofibromatosis type 1 Neurofibromatosis type 1 is an autosomal dominant disorder which primarily affects the growth and development of neural cell tissues. It presents as multiple tumor-like growths over the skin that arises from the nerves and is associated with other abnormalities like pigmentation over the skin and bone deformities. Becker's nevus or hairy pigmented epidermal nevus is a benign cutaneous hamartoma which is characterized by hyperpigmented macule (...) with hypertrichosis. It is rarely associated with neurofibromatosis. We report a 22-years-old male with coexistent Becker's nevus and type 1 neurofibromatosis.

Patient with giant Becker's nevus and epidermal nevus Becker's nevus is a cutaneous hamartoma that may be present at birth, but more commonly is noticed during puberty. It classically manifests unilaterally on the shoulder and upper trunk as a tan to brown patch or thin plaque. "It typically has an irregular margin, breaks up into islands at the periphery, and has an average size of 125 square centimeters.
