67. Low-dose 5-fluorouracil in combination with salicylic acid for the treatment of actinic keratoses on the hands and/or forearms - results of a non-interventional study. (Abstract)

Low-dose 5-fluorouracil in combination with salicylic acid for the treatment of actinic keratoses on the hands and/or forearms - results of a non-interventional study. As an in situ carcinoma, actinic keratoses should be treated early. Previous studies on the efficacy of a low-dose 0.5% 5-fluorouracil solution in combination with 10% salicylic acid (low-dose 5-FU/SA) are mostly related to lesions appearing on the head and face. In contrast, actinic keratoses (AK) lesions of the upper (...) extremities are considered to be difficult to treat. The efficacy of low-dose 5-FU/SA in the treatment of actinic keratoses on the hands and/or forearms was studied for the first time in this non-interventional study (NIS) under practical conditions in a large patient population. In addition to the clinical course during therapy and a follow-up period, the length of application and adherence were documented. As part of this NIS, 649 patients with AK were treated at 207 centres with low-dose 5-FU/SA

70. Microneedling Prior to Levulan PDT for the Treatment of Actinic Keratoses: A Split-Face, Blinded Trial. (Abstract)

Microneedling Prior to Levulan PDT for the Treatment of Actinic Keratoses: A Split-Face, Blinded Trial. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) with topical Levulan is an approved and efficacious method for treating actinic keratoses. This therapy depends on the ability of the Levulan (delta amino levulinic acid) to penetrate the stratum corneum and enter the cells of the epidermis. Microneedling is an increasing popular cosmetic therapy in which an array of tiny needles is used to make holes

72. The prevalence of actinic keratoses in the patients visiting dermatologists in two hospitals of China. (Abstract)

The prevalence of actinic keratoses in the patients visiting dermatologists in two hospitals of China. Actinic keratosis (AK) is one of the most common conditions treated by dermatologists in western countries. Studies have shown that AK prevalence in Europe, the U.S.A. and Australia is 4·5-60%. No data of AK prevalence in China has been reported. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of AK in patients visiting dermatologists in two hospitals in China. This study was conducted

73. Treatment monitoring of 0.5% 5-fluorouracil and 10% salicylic acid in clinical and subclinical actinic keratoses with the combination of optical coherence tomography and reflectance confocal microscopy. (Abstract)

Treatment monitoring of 0.5% 5-fluorouracil and 10% salicylic acid in clinical and subclinical actinic keratoses with the combination of optical coherence tomography and reflectance confocal microscopy. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and high-definition optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT) allow the observation in vivo of dynamic changes in response to non-surgical treatment of actinic keratosis and field of cancerisation. To non-invasively assess the pharmacodynamic changes induced (...) by treatment with low dose 5-fluorouracil and 10% salicylic acid by means of RCM and high-definition OCT in field cancerization and actinic keratosis.Twenty patients aged >50 years with diagnosis of actinic keratosis on the head and face and indication for treatment with 0.5% 5-fluorouracil and 10% salicylic acid were enrolled. An area of 25 cm² including visible type I and II AK and subclinical AK was treated once daily during 6 weeks and examination was performed with RCM and HD-OCT before treatment

74. Retrospective analysis evaluating the effect of a keratolytic and physical pretreatment with salicylic acid, urea and curettage on the efficacy and safety of photodynamic therapy of actinic keratoses with methylaminolaevulinate. (Abstract)

Retrospective analysis evaluating the effect of a keratolytic and physical pretreatment with salicylic acid, urea and curettage on the efficacy and safety of photodynamic therapy of actinic keratoses with methylaminolaevulinate. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a highly effective treatment option for actinic keratosis (AK). Hyperkeratosis of the AK impairs penetration of the photosensitizer and light and leads to a reduced efficacy of PDT. Therefore, it is commonly recommended to perform curettage
