- Answered 22 Sep 2019 Conflict of interest declaration: None We found a couple of references that answer the question. Given the 9 year gap between the two, there might be others. I've tried citation mapping to find others but that's not worked. Hopefully we can find others by asking the Trip community. A 2009 paper "Diagnostic accuracy of a home blood pressure monitor to detect atrial fibrillation"  reports: "In patients with tachyarrhythmia, the device underestimated heart rate." A 2018 paper "Agreement Between Automated and Human Measurements of Heart Rate in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation"  concluded: "There was a high agreement between HR measurements by 2 automated devices and human counting, but the Microlife device may overestimate HR in AF patients with HR greater than 80 bpm." - Answered 23 Sep 2019 Conflict of interest declaration: None Via email we received the following comment: The accuracy to detect AF, is only made by an instrument able to measure the HR in a long period of time. Holter is the Gold Standard, but today the Watch is closer to this capability.
