How to use TRIP CPD

The TRIP Database recognises the importance of CPD for health professionals and supports it in two main ways, via reflective learning of all content in TRIP and over 5,500 self-test education 'packs'. Below is an explanation of the differences between the two systems.

NOTE: your CPD will only be recorded if you are logged into my trip.

Reflective Learning

We recommend you view this brief slideshow click here

This can be undertaken with all content within TRIP.

Once logged in a user may click on the 'Use as CPD' link (below the publication name), this opens the article with the reflective tool at the top of the page.

The reflective tool has three windows to be completed once you've read the article.  Once you've read an article and completed the boxes you press the save button.  The record is then saved in your educational portfolio.

The system allows you to reflect on single articles or a full search session.  After saving your reflections you may wish to examine additional articles from the same search.  If you wish to reflect on these additional articles and not link them to your previous reflections, you need to press the 'New' button, otherwise the new reflections will be linked with the previous saved record.

Self-Test  CPD - COMING SOON!

Self-test CPD is used in conjunction with the TRIP Answers content.

The theme of self-test CPD is:

  • You search TRIP for topics you're interested in and identify a TRIP Answers clinical question you're interested in (this is aided by clicking on the 'Clinical Q&A' filter in the right-hand box on the search results page.
  • Click on the 'Use as CPD' link (below the publication name).  You'll then be prompted as to whether you want to carry out the CPD as reflective learning or self-test CPD, select the latter option.
  • You'll then be taken to a new page where we ask you what you think the answer is.
  • We then show you the actual answer.
  • You then record.
  • Finally, you record how you plan to integrate this learning into your clinical practice.

Once you've finished the test, the record will automatically be saved to your educational portfolio.
