Medicare Locals launch blueprint for preventive health

Preventive health must become the “core business” of Medicare Locals and GPs need to be actively involved in promoting and delivering preventive health activities, according to a new government blueprint.
The call to action is made in a   issued this month by the newly created  Australian National Preventive Health Agency and the Australian Medicare Local Alliance.
The two agencies say that preventive health interventions will require action at the system level, such as the use of MBS items, local level such as Medicare Local disease programs and at the individual practitioner level.
