This 2010  review by Cehreli et al of marginal bone loss around implants has now been critically reviewed by the American Dental Association Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry.
Marginal bone loss around implants supporting or retaining mandibular overdentures is not significantly affected by the implant system or attachment design
However the reviewer noted a number of methodological concerns related to the review and the bulk of the included studies were retrospective.
